As each winter in the UK becomes significantly colder and road conditions equally more treacherous, more and more UK motorists are opting to drive on winter tyres during the colder months. There is a good reason for this as when the temperature drops below 7°C, winter tyres work much more efficiently than summer tyres. This is because winter tyres are produced with a higher amount of rubber and a silica-based compound. This has the effect of minimising the typical hardening and cracking that happens to summer tyres in colder weather. With increased performance and safety on cold, icy roads, winter tyres represent an excellent alternative to summer tyres, which are not as capable in these conditions.
In many EU countries it is now quite normal to have two sets of tyres; one for the summer months and one set for the colder winter months. As the UK moves towards this trend one of the main issues seen is the lack of storage for tyres when not in use.
To alleviate this problem we have created 'Tyre Hotels' at the majority of our branches, where the additional set of tyres will be bagged, labelled and safely stored on our premises* until you need them again inline with the changing seasons.
For further advice and to find out more about our Tyre Hotels please contact your local HiQ Easy Tyre & Autocentres branch who will be more than happy to assist you.
